The herd of Wild Boar cross live together in a large area of rough woodland. We cross Wild Boar with the Oxford Sandy and Black pigs, which gives a slightly less dense meat, and not quite such a gamey flavour, although very different from ordinary pork. We also have 3/4 and 7/8th cross pigs, and very nearly full Wild Boar- the choice is yours!

We have two Boars - Pumba and Naughty Nigel. Pumba is a gentle giant, and loves his ears being scratched, but don't get between him and his food! Nigel is slightly shy, although not when it comes to his wives!

Wild Boar are much more vocal than ordinary pigs, chatting between themselves all the time with grunts and squeaks, and the occasional little whistle. Pure Wild Boar only breed once a year, producing only 4 or 5 piglets. Wild Boar piglets are called Sounders. They are slow growing, taking over twice as long as normal breeds. The meat is closely grained, has very little fat, and an intense gamey flavour. Because of their very nature, our supplies of Wild Boar X meat is in short supply.
